“The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is keen to learn more about Islamic finance, which has a market potential worth “trillions of dollars”, from Malaysia, its financial secretary John Tsang Chun-wah said.”

My comment:
This is one of the reason why we could see why there is not much differences between Islamic banks and conventional banks in practise.
The banker will look only for profits and the Syariah scholar will have to defend the Syariah principles. But at the end of the day, the one who have the money i.e the banker will win the war. Either the term interest change to profit, the loan scheme known with Islamic names which could attract millions of Muslims, who really cares about the Syariah principle. I bet the bankers won’t.
We need a banker / capitalist which not only look for profit but they understood that the development of Islamic Banking & Finance is an obligation. The effort made by our Syariah Scholar isn’t enough if the banker just looking it from the profit point of view.
Why people keen to know about Islamic banking & finance but they are also against the Islamic law? I think, you have got the answer.

The banker is a profit making type.
“the loan scheme known with Islamic names which could attract millions of Muslims, who really cares about the Syariah principle”
That phrase make me thinking deep.
when Islam is just a way to attract customer. The same as some of MLM scheme in Malaysia here. Using the name of Islam to attract potential customer.
But it is a good incentive anyway. Hopefully they will obey the syariah la tapi.
MONEY.
I think education is important to make people understand about syariah financial. Nowadays i think people just follow what others are doing if the feel that ‘the things” is compile with syariah.
Im agree with what Roboty says….
good point you have there.
your elective? banking aa?
money come first or Islam ?
education + political will
thank you madam
Islam merangkumi semua sudut ekonomi, syariah, muamalah dsbg.. Agama lain tiada.. Cuma kadangkala urusan akad perlu diperhalusi. Harapan agar lebih ramai orang Islam menceburi bidang perbankan. Wallahu A’lam
satu sisi pandangan yang menarik
1st.. sy x tau tenteng isu nie…tapi persoalan pokok ialah adakah negara ini adil and demokrasi? sedangkan kte masih amalkan 3 pillars of satan…fiat money, fractional reserve, and interest.sedangkan islam sendiri mengharamkan riba(usury) atau dlm bi nye… interest.
utk islamic banking plak… keuntungan tahunan hanya kurang daripada 1 % sje.keuntungan daripada “product2 yg diperkenalkan oleh islamic banking. so …dari mana islamic banking dpt keuntungan bear yg diperkatakan..tak lain x bukan daripada mudaraba…yang amalkan interest ..cuma nama je tukar jadi service…so malu kte sbg penganut islam wat islamic banking guna nama islam.patut tukar jadi bank syariah je..22 berbeza antara islanic and syariah..tapi atas sebab keuntungan guna nama islam untuk tarik ramai org guna. memalukan je..
