US Dollar Palm Oil Contracts

Currently I’m preparing myself for professional paper on Futures and Options i.e. module 7 of SIDC and I’ve came across this news:

Bursa Malaysia To Launch US Dollar Palm Oil Contracts In Q1 2008

GUANGZHOU, Nov 21 (Bernama) — Bursa Malaysia Bhd, the global benchmark for palm oil pricing, will launch US-dollar-denominated crude palm oil (CPO) contracts in the first quarter of next year, its global markets head, Raghbir Singh, said Wednesday.

He said the bourse was also looking at increasing the delivering locations from the existing three in Butterworth, Port Klang and in Pasir Gudang.

“We are considering extending the delivery points to Sabah and Sarawak and possibly in Indonesia in future,” he said at the 2nd China International Oils and Oilseeds Conference here today.

The conference is co-organised by Bursa Malaysia and Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE).
