Civil Servant Pay Rise: Everyone has a first poor story to tell

There are other more important things than civil servants pay rise. For me:

1. Minimum salary scheme
2. Special salary scheme for police / military which is different from other civil servants
3. Financial education

Me don’t think by paying more to civil servants could solve all problems. It could be some relief to them, at least for few months. But actually the system we live inside doesn’t help them much. You must learn the investment of the rich or you will left financially behind.

Pic taken from MuhtarSuhaili.com

When the government announced pay rise, me and my brother were discussing about it:

[Background sound: Mukhsin soundtrack]

Me: Well, it couldn’t help much.

Bro: Why?

Me: The poor become poorer, the rich become richer. And you, the middle class person is the one who will suffer the most. And Perodua just launched Viva and government will take all the money back from people (pay rise) by selling Viva and car loans, car insurance, road tax etc.

Bro: Hey, how much do you earn now?

Me: It is not about that, look… now we have KLCI bull run and CPO too, MYR strengthening against dollar, but do you get any benefits from all these good things?

Bro: None.

Me: Exactly. You’re indirectly get some benefits from all these things. But I get the benefits directly same like what our government are getting now. Government has all the Bursa, GLC, IRB, custom etc to make huge profits. And I get profits too either KLCI is up or down. You? All you get is only 15% pay rise. Flour and roti canai price hikes some more.

Bro: Well… if the government decide not to give pay rise, I get nothing.

Me: And you … middle class person is the one who will pay more in taxes. Government won’t help you if you suffer financially because your income is not the income of the poor. Government will only help poor people, not middle-class. Can you ask for zakat or any other aids (e.g skim pinjaman buku teks) ?

Bro: Yeah.

Well… Everyone has a first poor story to tell.

Candlestick Books

One dangerous thing I’ve found in trading is that most trader never learn the technique from the original source either it be through writing or meet the person himself.

Among indicators which always mislead traders are RSI & Stochastic. For RSI you need to read J. Welles Wilder writing in New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems, because he is the one who develop the indicator. It is the same for stochastic, just find any literature written by George Lane or any of his students.

Candlestick technique is another tool that all traders must comprehend in a right way. I’ve met a local trader who has learned the candlestick from a Japanese expert and not through Steve Nison. He has shown me few arts of trading which is not written in any trading book. And why you have to read other books on candlestick if most of the western literature on candlestick subject is primarily come from Steve Nison?

Thus, please find Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques which could cost you MYR 420 written by Steve Nison or if you want a cheaper candlestick book you can read Investing in KLSE Stocks and Futures With Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, authored by Fred Tam, which has been endorsed by Steve Nison, it could cost you MYR 79.95.

Or just become a registered BicaraJutawan member and you can read it for free :D (The registration will be opened soon)

Happy Investing.

Champions League Final: Liverpool vs AC Milan

My prediction, Liverpool will win Champions League 2007 with a small margin. Either it be 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 4-3 etc. Steven Gerrard will become a match winner. No penalty shoot-out anymore though Liverpool have Pepe Reina! And Rafa Benitez is a master tactician of European football.

It’s all right if you don’t like football. But you must know one fact, football is a multi-billion industry. I repeat, multi-billion. Football is the most popular sport in the world. World Cup is the dream of every player and UEFA Champions League is the most hardest competition in the world. English Premier League is the most expensive league on the earth. And Malaysia … er… no comment.

Let us look what type of business you can do with football even though you dislike it.

1. Restaurant / Cafe

I don’t know why, Malay restaurant simply choose to telecast Akademi Fantasia rather than English Premier League. Just a simple comparison, during English FA Cup Final last weekend all 3 kedai mamak (I had a dinner at Bangi during the final) were full of Manchester United & Chelsea fans. And Malay restaurant which aired AF Final … *sigh*

2. Jersey / merchandise

Fanatic football fans are all crazy. They will collect everything to show their passion to their beloved team (Hey, me just follow haircut style of Harry Kewell ;) ) You could sell anything from jersey, flag, towel, t-shirt, watch, poster, car sticker and others to them. I’ve met a Liverpool fan who spent RM 900 just to buy a classic original Liverpool jersey.

3. Blogging about football

I just do it ;)

Business / Investing Lesson Learned

A simple business principle in this topic is, if you’re not a market leader (G-14 Group) , just follow what a market leader does. If you’re not managing multi-million of funds to invest, don’t try to counter them. If you are not following the market, you’re the most fool among the fools. Just try to tap in with them.

Why do you want to sell UPB-MyTeam jersey if you know you could sell Liverpool jersey & merchandises much more better?

You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Fundamental of Blogging

Blogging is a new phenomena. Phenomena of an information age. It is a new way of journalism, diary and expression. Now, everybody can become a publisher.

Again, the principle never change, either you’re in online mode or offline mode. For me, I like to write. I’d join editorial team since my secondary school. It is an accomplishment to publish ‘majalah sekolah’. I wrote newsletter for my school mosque and it was a great feeling when all the newsletters were read by all. And I done all of those things voluntarily and not for money.

As a respond to Asni , the most important thing in blogging is, you must love to write. Write on any topic that you like. Don’t think about making money from blogging first. Just ask yourself, do you really love to write?

Content is a king. Fundamentally.

I don’t want to touch yet on a technical part of blogging such as search engine optimization (SEO), topic to write, platform of blogging, technique of writing and also how to make money from it :D !

There are only 2 rules of successful blogging:

1. Love to write
2. Don’t forget rule no. 1

(Hey my fellow share investors, sounds familiar? ;) )

Welcome to the world of blogging

It is interesting to know that my fellow friends / mentor are now blogging too.

1. Mr Iskandar Zulkarnain ( http://disertasi.blogspot.com )

We once called him “Textbooks” during schooldays. He could memorize exactly what is written in the textbooks to be wrote in the exam. My mentor during my schooldays.

2. Mr Amin Idris ( http://aminidris.com )

I’ve learned much about leadership from him. A famous figure in the world of ‘gerakan mahasiswa’. Now, he has wrote 6 books about leadership and motivation.

3. Mr Afyan ( http://afyan.com )

A humorous guy. Simple & direct to the point. Just read his blog to know about it. A takaful guy.

4. Mr Fadzli Yusof ( http://fadzliyusof.com )

I’ve learned many things about management from him. A prolific writer. I’m not sure how much his books has been published until today. Even Borders Bookstore in Berjaya Times Square make a graffiti of his quote.

To all my beloved reader, have a visit to theirs and enjoy their writings.

Lately, there is a lot of confusion on “online investment”, “online business”, “online get-rich-quick scheme”, “online marketing”, “online-advertising”, “share investment through online brokerage company”, “affiliate-program, “pay-per-click program” and all those online stuffs.

You may ask, is it illegal or not? I don’t want to answer it here. But please be remember, either you’re online or not, the people doesn’t change. There are conman, liars everywhere. And of course, stupid & greedy people too.

It is hard to distinguish between good and bad. The only cure is KNOWLEDGE. That’s exactly has been said by Muhammad b Abdullah:

There is that which is evidently lawful (halal bayyin) and that which is evidently unlawful (haram bayyin), and between these there are things which are doubtful and suspect (shubuhat). One who abstains from doubtful things is saved from falling into unlawful things, and one who takes recourse in doubtful things falls in unlawful things and perishes without knowing it.” (Refer to the following link for little explanation about the hadith [ 6 ] )

For example, the issue of forex trading which lead many confusion for Muslim people. Well, you must understand economy, finance, monetary system, investment, banking & syariah principles involving riba’ vs business. It is not only the matter of long or short the currency.
